The soon to come to fruition "Campus of Care", which will incorporate the soon to be built Squamish Renaissance's 70 units of assisted living housing with the already existing 72 units of senior housing in the Cedars and Manor, will be the culmination of a well-thought-out process started 30 years ago by such farsighted people as Art Reynolds and carried on over the years by the Seniors' Housing Society. Plans are in place to have the three buildings, located downtown on Third Avenue, linked within walking or motorized (not vehicular) distance of one another so that facilities and activities may be shared as much as possible.

In addition, the fact that the needs of seniors are beginning to be recognized in today's building designs is reflected in the proposed Solterra Development about to take place further along at the north end of Third and Fourth Avenues. This Eagle Wind project will be a master planned complex of housing for everyone from young families to some units constructed especially for senior living (wheelchair accessible, etc) as well as a small commercial component and a seniors centre along with walkways and trails throughout the nine of the 11 acre site currently known as Block R.That both of these projects are also within easy distance to the amenities of downtown Squamish is seen as attractive to seniors wanting to keep their independence as long as possible. Being able to get to such as medical, dental and hair appointments as well as shopping and restaurants without necessarily having to drive is seen as very important.
