With a background in the public and private sector, District of Squamish officials say their new general manager of Community and Business Services has the right stuff.
On Thursday (May 30), municipal staff announced that Randy Stoyko was stepping into the newly defined portfolio. The position oversees economic development, real estate development and recreation services.
Stoyko comes to Squamish from the District of Sechelt, where he served as Chief of Innovation and Growth. Before that he was a director with SGS, a worldwide commercial inspection company.
"[Stoyko's] experience and talents complement our senior leadership team very well and I'm very much looking forward to what he will bring to the table," Squamish's CAO Corien Speaker stated in a press release.
Stoyko said he was attracted to the job first and foremost because of the talented people at the district. An avid lover of the outdoors, Stoyko said Squamish was a great fit for him.
"I'm very much looking forward to diving into this role and have several ideas that I see potential to implement right away," he said.
