Someone broke into the Tim Hortons and Wendy’s combined restaurant in Squamish in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident took place around 2 a.m. at the Progress Way location. On social media, people posted about hearing sirens in the area at approximately 2:30 a.m.

“There was a robbery that occurred during the closing hours,” said Staff Sgt. Brian Cumming.

The site had finished food preparation for the night and was closed, as one staff person was in the process of finishing the shift, when someone smashed a window on the Wendy’s side of the building.

“Three to four men entered and asked where the money was,” Cumming said.

The person on duty directed them towards the tills at which point the suspects took the money and left the premises.

No one was injured during the incident. At present, Sea to Sky RCMP do not know how much money was taken and do not have any identification information about the suspects. The suspects’ faces were all obscured.

Through Sunday morning, police had secured the location with police tape around the perimeter, while they gathered forensics information.

“We’re investigating it actively,” Cumming said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
