Police are blaming careless driving for a crash involving 10 children. An SUV carrying five children aged nine to 14 crashed into a school bus carrying five students between the ages of eight and nine years old Tuesday (April 14). The incident happened on Bowen Avenue in Dentville as the children were being transported home around 5:25 p.m.

All children were "shaken but otherwise uninjured," according to an RCMP news release.

Police blamed the 36-year-old female driver of the Cadillac Escalade for "driving without due care and attention" and issued her a violation ticket, according to the release.

The 55-year-old school bus driver and five children were returning from an after-school recreation program at the Totem Hall.

The driver of the school bus suffered lower back pain and the driver of the SUV was taken to hospital by BC Ambulance, treated and later released.
