Local RCMP are seeking information regarding a break-in at the Magic Wok restaurant, which extended through walls to neighbouring buildings.

Cpl Dave Ritchie of the Squamish detachment said RCMP were called to the scene March 11 at 11:14 a.m.

On arrival, police discovered that after gaining entrance to the Magic Wok, which was under renovations, the individual(s) were able to gain access to the neighbouring offices of the Howe Sound Teachers' Association, by tearing through the wall.

Some petty cash was the only thing reported stolen.

According to police, holes were then punched in another wall in an attempt to gain access to another neighbouring business, but were unable to complete the hole and gain entry.

Ritchie said fingerprints were collected at the scene, and RCMP continue to investigate the incident.

B&E nets bikes

A break and enter at Corsa Cycles March 9 saw thieves get away with two expensive rides.

According to Ritchie, two bikes valued at more than $1,000 each were stolen during the burglary.

Police are investigating the crime and ask anyone with information to contact the local detachment.

Police investigateattempted abduction

RCMP are looking into a report of an attempted abduction in the Garibaldi Highlands March 8 at 7:50 p.m.

According to Ritchie, a woman reported two males driving a dark-coloured mid-size extended cab pickup had pulled up beside her as she was walking her dog and asked for directions. The driver, described as Caucasian, early 20's with short dark hair, is alleged to have opened the driver side door, grabbed the woman by her left wrist and attempted to pull her inside the truck. The woman reported the male said "We're going to take you for a ride". The woman managed to break free from the man's grip and escape.

The second male in the truck is described as possibly being Indo-Canadian, with short, dark hair.

Squamish RCMP made immediate and extensive patrols in the area for the vehicle, however they were unable to locate it.

Ritchie said the incident has caused "alarm" with residents worried about walking alone.

He suggested always carrying a cellphone, walking during daylight hours, and walking with a partner or group.

"There has been no further incident since," he said. "And there have been no further reports of the dark vehicle."

If you are approached by strangers for directions, Ritchie suggested staying a couple of feet away from the vehicle.
