Celebrate the Park

The Brackendale Farmers Institute will be hosting this event on Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farmers Institute Park.

There won’t be an annual Brackendale Fall Fair this year, but people are still encouraged to come to the park, meet your neighbours and bring a picnic lunch.

Take a hike!

Squamish has some of the most prolific hiking and walking groups that you can find in any community.

With three clubs dedicated to trekking through the outdoors, you’ll find plenty to do if getting around on two feet is your preferred method of transportation.

- The Tantalus Walking Group will meet this week on Sept. 11 at Tim Hortons and Sept. 13 at Alice Lake’s large parking lot for a trip to Stump Lake. Both walks will start at 10 a.m. Contact Joyce for details on 604-898-5594.

- The Friday Morning Walking Group will have a stroll at the Adventure Centre on Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. More info at 604-815-0152.

UNESCO Biosphere

Presenters will talk about the UNESCO Biosphere program. They’ll make the case for why Howe Sound should be part of the initiative.

On Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Brackendale Art Gallery.

Count birds

Check out the monthly bird count at the Estuary. Meet up at Howe Sound Brew Pub on Sept. 9 at 7 a.m. People will be divided into groups and the most of the crowd will return to the pub around noon to compare results.
