Squamish's Keegan Murphy is taking the podium Saturday (Feb. 12) in what he hopes will be foreshadowing for his Olympic dreams in 2010.

The Squamish-born figure skater, who recently cracked the top 10 in the senior men's category at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships, is participating in a special ceremony marking the five-year countdown to the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Murphy will be part of a "passing of the torch" ceremony from visiting Olympians and Paralympians to corridor athletes who may compete in the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Murphy will receive the torch from world-champion ice dancer Victor Kraatz.

The ceremony stakes place at 3 p.m. at the Vancouver 2010 Info Centre in Whistler Village.
