'Transit Future' bus coming to Squamish

B.C. Transit, DOS officials seeking input

B.C. Transit officials are bringing a 40-foot "Transit Future" bus to Squamish next week for a series of mobile public consultation sessions with locals about the future of transit services here.

The sessions, organized in partnership with the District of Squamish, will take place next Friday and Saturday (Dec. 2 and 3) aboard the bus as it's parked in various locations. On Friday, it will be parked near Chieftain Mall from 1 to 2 p.m. and outside Wal-Mart from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. On Sunday it will be parked outside Extra Foods in Highland Mall from 10:30 to 1:30 p.m.

B.C. Transit and DOS officials are seeking input on proposed changes to transit services in Squamish. The bus will be outfitted with information on the local transit system, and staff will be on hand to answer questions and give the public a chance to provide feedback.

Using feedback gathered at the sessions, B.C. Transit will develop a report with recommendations for service changes. The report will be presented to council for approval in early 2012.

For those who can not attend an open houses, information on the proposed transit options and an online survey is available at www.bctransit.com/transitfuture.
