On Friday (Aug. 28) at 5:30 a.m., suspect(s) drove a white Ford pick up through door at Nesters Food Market at Hunter Place. A Caucasian male entered the store through the broken glass pane and stole computer hard drive. Surveillance video shows theft. An investigation to identify vehicle and suspect is still underway.
Totem hall broken into
Aug. 27 at 8:16 a.m. a report received that the Totem Hall was broken into overnight. The entry was gained by throwing a rock through the front door glass. A fire extinguisher was discharged in the fitness room causing approximately $400 damage. Still under investigation.
Motor stolen
Aug. 28 owner reports the theft of a 8 HP Tohastus gas outboard motor stolen from his driveway in the 40000 block of Braemar Drive.
Numerous violation tickets issued
Cougar kills chickens
On Aug. 27, COs attended a complaint of a cougar entering a chicken coop when the door was left open. The cougar killed two chickens before fleeing the area. COs set bait at the location in order to attract the cat but there have been no reports of the cougar returning to the area.
Dangerous wildlife orders issued
Over the past week, COs issued two dangerous wildlife protection orders in Whistler to a business and a private residence. Both orders were issued for having unsecure garbage storage.
Numerous violations fined
This past week, conservation officers conducting joint patrols with Ministry of Forest compliance and enforcement staff issued more than seven violation tickets for lighting or using campfires during the restriction. Charges under the Liquor Control Act, Environmental Management Act, and Forest and Range Practices Act, as well as warnings under these acts, were also issued at numerous locations in the corridor.
Black bear at falls
On Aug. 23, conservation officers (CO) attended a campground near Shannon Falls to set a trap for a black bear that has been observed approaching campers during dinner preparation.
