During the past two weeks at least two pick-up trucks had their windows smashed while they were parked in the lot of a dealership near downtown Squamish.
The latest incident was reported to police on Wednesday, Nov. 21, RCMP Sgt. Wayne Pride wrote in a statement. A vehicle window had been smashed overnight at the lot in the 1100 block of Hunter Place and the vehicle appeared to have been rummaged through, but apparently nothing was stolen, Pride said.
A similar incident occurred during the night of Nov. 16-17 at the same location, but was not reported to police at the time. Again, the vehicle had its window broken and it appeared someone had gone through it, but nothing was stolen, Pride said.
Bikes stolen
Mountain bikes were stolen from homes in two separate incidents in downtown Squamish recently.
On Tuesday, Nov. 20, police received a report of a bike having been stolen from a home in the 1400 block of Pemberton Avenue in downtown Squamish sometime between Oct. 27 and 28. The bike had been locked to a gate in front of the home. The bike is a women's black Cannondale Quick with a pump and rack and a lime-green water bottle cage.
On Saturday (Nov. 24), police received a report of a mountain bike having been stolen from an underground storage locker at a complex in the 1400 block of Pemberton Avenue. The time frame of the theft was not known, Pride said. The stolen bike is a black and gold women's 17-inch Specialized Hard Rock.
Man faces breach charge
A Squamish man who was under court order not to consume alcohol was arrested and is being charged with breaching those conditions after an incident on the weekend.
On Saturday (Nov. 24) at around 11:30 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked behind a church in the 38000 block of Buckley Avenue. At the scene police located a 47-year-old man who was well known to them. Police noted a strong smell of liquor on the man's breath and administered a roadside test, which the man failed. He was issued a 90-day roadside suspension and his vehicle was towed, in addition to the breach-of-conditions charge.
Booze stolen
On Sunday (Nov. 25) at around 2 p.m., police received a report of a male having stolen two bottles of liquor from a liquor store in the 38000 block of Cleveland Avenue. The man had left by the time police arrived, but video surveillance is being examined in an attempt to identify the thief, Pride wrote.
