Two local theft suspects arrested

Squamish RCMP have arrested two men suspected of having committed a number of thefts.

Last Wednesday (Feb. 12), members of the RCMP's General Investigation Section executed a search warrant at a home in the 38000 block of Gambier Avenue, RCMP Sgt. Wayne Pride wrote in a statement.

Squamish resident Robert Cory Kerr, 23, was arrested in connection with an investigation into a break-in at storage lockers at a local apartment complex on Jan. 17, Pride said.

On Thursday (Feb. 13), police executed another search warrant at a home in the 40000 block of Government Road and arrested Squamish resident Tavis Maurice Lacroix, 26. Both men were described as "well known to police."

During the arrests, police recovered "a quantity" of stolen items, including two mountain bikes valued at $1,700 and $2,000, respectively. Both were returned to their rightful owners, Pride said.

Items stolen

On Tuesday (Feb. 11), police received a report of a vehicle having been broken into overnight while parked on Minaty Lane in Britannia Beach. A spare set of keys for the vehicle, a radar detector, miscellaneous tools, personal photos and various Harley Davidson memorabilia including a jacket, were reported stolen from the vehicle, which was left unlocked.

Vehicle damaged

Also on Tuesday (Feb. 11), police received a report of a vehicle having had its passenger-side window smashed while it was parked overnight in front of a home in the 1800 block of Mamquam Road. The vehicle was rummaged thru but apparently nothing was stolen.

GPS stolen

On Friday (Feb. 14), police received another report of a theft from a vehicle, this time in the 40000 block of Skyline Drive. The vehicle had been left unlocked, and sometime between 3 and 4 a.m., a Garmin GPS was stolen from inside the vehicle.

Camera, computer stolen

On Sunday (Feb. 16), police received a report of a vehicle having been broken into during the day while it was parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Stolen were an HP laptop computer, a Canon digital camera and miscellaneous personal documents.
