Wanted male arrested with cocaine

On May 28 at 6:45 p.m., a member on patrol observed a wanted male as a passenger in a vehicle on Highway 99.

The vehicle was stopped and the male arrested. A search subsequent to arrest revealed the male was carrying a substantial amount of cocaine and crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and monies.

The male was held in custody and appeared in North Vancouver Court on May 31 and was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drugs for the purposes of trafficking. Shawn Lundrigan was held in custody and will appear next on June 9.

Drunk resists arrest

On May 28 at 12:45 a.m. a member on a bar check of the Cliffside Pub was advised by a patron leaving that there was an intoxicated male inside causing a disturbance.

The member located a highly intoxicated male at the bar yelling and swearing at the server and patrons nearby as he was refused service due to his intoxicated state. The male was advised he was under arrest and resisted his removal from the bar.

A struggle ensued and another member and a staff member assisted in bringing the 20-year-old male under control.

The male was cleared by B.C. Ambulance staff to be lodged in cells and was released when sober on a promise to appear in Provincial Court to answer to charges of causing disturbance in public and resisting arrest.

Drunk youths in fight

On May 29 at 2:57 a.m. police received an abandoned 911 call from 7-11 convenience store on Garibaldi Way. Police attended and located three youths who were all intoxicated and one was suffering from head and facial injuries.

An 18-year-old male was transported to hospital for treatment and the matter is still under investigation.

Youths arrested for vandalism

On May 25 witnesses observed two youths at the Chieftain Mall, one youth threw a rock through the window at Only Deals Dollar Store and left the scene towards Buckley Avenue. On May 28 investigators arrested and charged a 16-year-old male with mischief to property under $5,000. The estimate to replace and repair damage to the window for this senseless act is estimated at $1,000.

Speeding ends in crash

On May 28 at 5:10 p.m., a member patrolling Highway 99 southbound by Conroy Creek intercepted a 2005 Toyota Celica travelling at 138 kilometres per hour in a posted 80-kilometre zone.

The member attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver turned east off the highway at Conroy Creek Forest Road, the vehicle slid out of control and flipped upside down in a deep ditch.

The 25-year-old driver and his 27-year-old female passenger were not hurt. The driver was issued with violation tickets. The vehicle was towed and the occupants hailed a taxi ride back to Vancouver.

Driver avoids drunk driving charge

On May 26 at 4 p.m. a vehicle owner reports that his vehicle was hit from behind at Cleveland Avenue and Highway 99.

The other driver gave his name and immediately left the scene. Police attended to Harbor View Place and located the heavily damaged 2002 4Dr Mercedes and spoke with driver who inside a residence in an intoxicated state.

The driver was arrested and returned to the detachment and later released after being issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention.

The aspect of alcohol being involved was investigated, however, due to circumstances in this instance an impaired driving charge was not able to be pursued.

Prohibited driver charged

On May 29 at 2:05 a.m., a member checked a 2002 Porsche Boxter at a road check on Diamond Road. The 33-year-old driver was found to be prohibited from driving a motor vehicle in B.C. and was issued with an appearance notice to appear in court on July 7 to answer to a charge of driving while prohibited, his vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.

Visitors' vehicle broken into

On May 26 owner called to report that his vehicle was broken into while parked at Porteau Cove Provincial Park.

Two North Face jackets, credit cards and Oakley and Maui Jim sunglasses were stolen. The credit cards had been fraudulently used at two businesses in Squamish before they could be cancelled.

Video surveillance is being reviewed.
