Wanted man flees into bushes

On Saturday (Oct. 9) at 3:05 p.m., a member on patrol observed a local 37-year-old male who was known to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The male was checked on Harbour View Place and fled on a bicycle when stopped by police. The male rode into a trail system nearby, missed a corner and went over the handlebars then fled through the thick bush.

A police service dog team was brought in to search and located him hiding in bushes near Scott Crescent. He was arrested and found to be in possession of stolen goods taken from a local building supply.

He was held in custody and transported to court on Oct. 12 to answer to the outstanding warrants and a charge of possession of stolen property.

Forger arrested

On Sunday (Oct. 10) at 12:02 p.m., a local business called a resident to advise that a male was attempting to cash one of her cheques.

Police were notified and attended the business and seized the cheque.

Patrols located and arrested the 20-year-old male suspect. He was released on a promise to appear and will be facing charges of uttering a forged document and possession of stolen property on Dec. 1.

Thieves use dog door

On Thursday Oct. 7 at 5:10 p.m., a resident reported a break & enter and theft to a residence in the 41000 block of Government Road.

Suspect(s) are believed to have entered the residence through a large dog door in the front door of the residence.

Suspect(s) stole a 42-inch flatscreen TV, four four-foot LG speakers and $200 in cash. The matter is still under investigation.

Plainclothes patrol nets violators

On Saturday (Oct. 9) Sea to Sky Traffic Services conducted a plainclothes operation on Highway 99 in Squamish targetting seatbelts, hand held devices and intersections. An on duty officer in plain clothes on the side of the roadway called violations to uniformed officers who intercepted the violators.

Violations included 17 related to seatbelts, 13 with hand held devices, two for vehicle defects and nine for speeding through the intersection.

Warnings included three for seatbelts, two for hand held devices, 19 for vehicle defects and four for intersection violations.
