A man previously wanted by the RCMP in Squamish likely died in a fatal collision in Langley on July 14.

The RCMP announced on July 5 that Joel Milton Clark, 30, was wanted for arrest warrants out of the Surrey area for breaching an undertaking or recognizance.

The Squamish Chief was contacted by a friend of Clark who reported he had died on Friday, July 14. Asked specifically about this, the Squamish RCMP referred The Chief to a Langley RCMP spokesperson.

“I can confirm we had a fatal collision in Langley in the early morning hours of July 14th. Unfortunately, I can’t release names,” said Corp. Holly Largy, media relations officer for the Langley RCMP.

Largy added a coroner’s investigation into the death is ongoing and it is up to the coroners service to release the name of the deceased.

The BC Coroners Service told The Chief due to privacy issues of the deceased, they won’t be releasing the name

Asked if the previous article by The Chief about Clark being wanted was still relevant, Largy said it was not.
