Authorities have issued a wildlife alert after a bobcat chased an off-leash dog late Friday (Sept. 6) in the Coho Park trail network.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. at the north end of a trail called The Covenant just before it exits onto the road portion of Jack's Trail between Garibaldi Highlands and Garibaldi Estates.
The dog was off-leash, prompting the District of Squamish and B.C. Conservation Officer Service to remind citizens to keep dogs on leash when out walking.
We can expect to encounter wildlife within all areas of Squamish. Please make noise while out on the trails, be alert and aware at all times, authorities said in a statement.
