Local authorities on Tuesday (June 4) cautioned residents to keep their dogs on leash after two separate encounters between a bobcat and hikers with dogs.
The incidents occurred Tuesday morning in the Coho Park trail system, which is accessible from Garibaldi Estates and Garibaldi Highlands, said a joint statement issued by the District of Squamish and the B.C. Conservation Officer Service.
No one was injured in the encounters, authorities said. However, In an effort to mitigate the potential for wildlife conflicts, we would like to remind everyone to keep dogs on leash and to avoid this area until further notice, the statement said. Signs are being posted.
