The District of Squamish will pour more than $800,000 into replacing a water main in Valleycliffe.
The replacement of 1,410 metres of pipe on Westway Avenue and Maple Drive was identified through critical analysis of the district's water system, Matt Simmons, the district's capital projects manager, told council on May 7. The project is an integral component of the five-year capital plan, he noted.
The district received four bids in the tender process, from which district staff selected Earthco Underground Ltd.
"We went through their tender submission with a fine-tooth comb," Simmons said, noting the bid was at least $200,000 less than those from other bidders.
Work on the project was set to begin May 15 and wrap up Aug. 30.
