After a few weeks of overcast skies and downpour — totalling 189.7mm so far this October — it seems Squamish may catch a break.
This week’s forecast by Environment Canada shows a mix of sun and cloud for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. While Thursday night and Friday brings back some rain, the weekend and start of next week predicts a return of the sun for several days in a row.
Between Oct. 15 and 18, there were consecutive days of rain with 17.3mm on the Tuesday, 45.5mm — the most daily precipitation this month — on Wednesday Oct. 16, followed by 39.5mm on Thursday and 27.6mm on Friday. There was a brief dip in precipitation on Oct. 19 at .8mm, then another upswing with 12.8mm on Sunday and 22.6 on Monday, Oct. 21.
Local meteorologist Jason Ross shared on Twitter on Oct. 15 that the first series of systems on the coast would bring rain.
