If you have driven down Commercial Way, you have likely recently seen the construction behind the Dairy Queen — directly in front of Davies Home Healthcare.
So what is going on?
Staff at the District of Squamish tell The Squamish Chief that Tesla electric vehicle charging stations are being installed at 1201 Commercial Way.
EV charging stations are a permitted use in all zones except residential.
The installation and location of the charging stations are an agreement between the landlord and Tesla, staff said. The property owner was required to amend their Development Permit to satisfy the landscaping requirements needed to accommodate the charging stations.
Businesses are open as usual during construction.
There is already a Tesla Supercharger station at 40167 Glenalder Place, behind Boston Pizza.
All Tesla charging sites can be found on the Tesla site.
Here’s a look at the new Tesla Supercharger in Squamish. 12 stalls including three pull-in stalls. These will be huge for owners with bike racks as Squamish and Whistler attracts tens of thousands of bikers during the summer https://t.co/qSdHAAK8YJ pic.twitter.com/NnBWbPgeyI
