Outdoor enthusiasts in the Sea to Sky corridor will have no shortage of adventure this summer, as Helly Hansen’s Open Mountain Month returns with a full slate of community-focused activities designed to deepen connection with nature.
Now in its third year, the global initiative by the Norway-based outdoor apparel brand officially kicks off June 1. In Whistler and throughout the Sea to Sky, residents and visitors alike can take part in guided hikes, summit sleepovers, trail challenges and more, all aimed at making the outdoors more accessible and enjoyable for people of all experience levels.
“This season, we wanted to emphasize the value of outdoor connection—not just with nature, but with one another,” said Joumana Løvstad, Helly Hansen’s chief marketing officer. “Each year, we’ve seen how these activations bring people together in new and meaningful ways.”
Events in Whistler and the Sea to Sky
Among the marquee local events is the Helly Hansen Hiking Challenge, running from June 20 to July 20 at Whistler Blackcomb. Designed to get hikers moving and exploring new terrain, the challenge is paired with the Little Adventurers Scavenger Hunt, which runs from June 30 to July 30 and is geared toward families with young children.
Back for its third year, the Helly Hansen Summit Sleepover at Whistler Blackcomb offers a rare opportunity to camp overnight in the alpine on July 26 and 27—an event that continues to grow in popularity for its views, camaraderie, and connection to the land.
Over at the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, participants can take part in Blaze the Trails, a month-long celebration of hiking and trail exploration from June 1 to 30, or rise early for Rise & Climb on June 28, a special sunrise hike and community gathering.
For those looking to learn from the best, Helly Hansen is also hosting Guided Hikes with Mountain Professionals on July 12 and 19 in locations across B.C., including Whistler, Vancouver, Banff and Golden. The hikes will be led by local guides and rescue experts who bring their deep mountain knowledge and safety experience to the trails.
