All four British Columbian women's ski cross athletes qualified for the main event at Cypress Mountain on Tuesday morning (Feb. 23), including Whistler's Ashleigh McIvor and Julia Murray.

McIvor led the way with a second place qualification, with Murray placing 14th, Kelowna B.C.'s Kelsey Serwa placing fourth and Fernie, B.C.'s Danielle Poleschuk placing 10th.

McIvor said she is only going to get faster.

"It was good, nice and smooth. I know where I made mistakes so I can make them faster," said McIvor, girlfriend of fourth place finisher in Olympic men's ski cross Chris Del Bosco.

"Watching the men's ski cross and even the snowboard cross we got to figure out all the passing opportunities. By the time we got up to train I already knew the course."

Murray, meanwhile, is competing despite undergoing knee surgery earlier this month.

"I felt pretty good. I'm still having some trouble standing on it 100 per cent. But I'm here and I've done a lot of physio to be here," said Murray.

McIvor is ranked second and Murray is ranked fourth on the overall World Cup circuit.

The finals start today (Feb. 23) at 1 p.m.
