Squamish became home to the wild, wild West last month.
Television network ABC was in town, as the company shot a pilot for the series Big Thunder. Set in the late 19th century, the show centres around Dr. Grant Carson, who relocates his family to a mining town called Big Thunder. Carson is played by Ed MacLiam, who is best known for his role as Greg Douglas in the BBC's Holby City.
Media have also reported Twilight actor Alex Meraz, Resident Evil's Spencer Locke and Primeval's Ruth Bradley are also cast in the show.
The end to pilot season is just around the corner, Squamish resident and Emmy Award-nominated costume designer Glenne Campbell said.
Most complete filming by the end of this week, she said, on Monday (April 1).
So far, eight pilots have been shooting around the Lower Mainland. In 2012, 22 productions shot in Squamish, pumping an estimated $1.5 million into the community's economy. The year before, three of five features shot in the Lower Mainland visited Squamish.
Officials have been brainstorming ways to entice a larger chunk of the industry to town. After a meeting in February, Campbell compiled a local movie-crew talent list with 55 Squamish residents' names on it. The next step is to figure out how to promote the information, she said.
The District of Squamish is busy updating its filming site inventory. The municipality received $10,000 from the B.C Film Commission to help compile the inventory of unique locations. The municipality recently released a Request for Proposals for a photographer to complete the work.
Squamish was catapulted into the world of blockbuster hits with the vampire saga Twilight. In 2011, the most anticipated movie scene of the year the wedding between characters Bella Swan and Edward Cullen was filmed in Squamish Valley.
