Windows broken at school

Briefs

Police briefs:

Vandals broke two windows at Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School, Monday evening (July 11). Cpl. Dave Ritchie said members from the Squamish RCMP responded to a noise complaint at 10:55 p.m., but nobody was found after a patrol around the school.

Another noise complaint came at 12:30 a.m. and when police attended the school, the broken windows were discovered and again there was nobody at the school.

Sports car crashes

An accident on Jura Crescent on July 10 is under investigation after a Mazda RX7 lost control and came to a stop straddling a ditch.

Cpl. Ritchie said the 20-year-old driver received a 24-hour driving suspension because there was evidence alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation. Ritchie said a charge might be laid in connection with the crash.
