There is a saying that no good deed goes unpunished and this situation seems to prove that old adage out.

Squamish volunteer rescuers were awoken to the scream of their pagers Sunday morning.

In the overnight gale, a float home with two people on board had broken free of one mooring and was at risk of breaking another and going for a speedy drift down Howe Sound, according to a post from the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCM-SAR).

With assistance from the resident, the crew of five rescuers were able to push the home back and secure it to the dolphin (marine poll).

The mission, and the gale force winds were not without casualties though. The marine rescue vessel's protective cover blew away in the wind after the mission was completed. The cover costs about  $1,000 to replace. The boat’s windshield wiper was also damaged in the wind and will cost $200 to replace.

“If anyone has a new marine wiper or cash towards these two critical items to donate to a registered charity, please consider it! Or better yet, $1,000 towards a boathouse would be even better,” reads the RCM-SAR post.
