On Saturday, Oct. 20, the region's female leaders and entrepreneurs will be under one roof.
Supported by the Sea to Sky Community Services and Howe Sound Women's Centre, the Sea to Sky Women's Leadership Day focuses on professional and personal development of the corridor's women, event organizer Cathy Goddard said.
We are really trying to bring women together of all different [business] levels, said Goddard, principal of business consulting firm Lighthouse Visionary Strategies.
The workshops are designed to share insight and knowledge, Goddard said. The event isn't just for businesswomen, she noted, as there are components that teach coping and planning techniques.
Today's women have busy schedules, Goddard said. They juggle households, careers and raising children. As an entrepreneur herself, Goddard said she's always eager to support other women facing similar challenges.
It's often tough to see the big picture when a business owner is running with the day-to-day issues in fact, it can be very lonely, she said. Mentorship is an opportunity to garner the necessary support and learn from best practices.
The event, sponsored by Sea to Sky Hotel and Lighthouse Visionary Strategies, includes eight different workshops. Presentations include everything from clinical counsellor Denise Evans talking about self-awareness and self-care techniques to Fast Forward consultant Bernie Lalor-Morton hosting a workshop people's relationship with money.
Our focus is really on mentorship, Goddard said.
Tickets must be purchased online for $25 at www.lighthousevisionary.com before Monday (Oct. 15). For more info, go to Sea To Sky Women's Leadership Workshop on Facebook.
