The final phase of grading and capping the crests of dikes at Judd Slough and North Yards was set to take place this week, prompting municipal officials to avoid those areas while the work is ongoing.

Work near Fisherman's Park in Brackendale and Whittaker Slough in North Yards was set to take place Wednesday and Thursday (March 27 and 28) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., District of Squamish officials said in a statement.

"The public is asked to avoid these areas to allow the work to be completed as quickly as possible, ensuring the park and dikes will be open for the long weekend," officials wrote. Area residents can expect heavy truck traffic on those two days, and should exercise caution when travelling near the work zones, they said.
