A Squamish teen is facing a charge of assault with a weapon after an incident in the parking lot of Howe Sound Secondary School (HSSS) last week.
On Wednesday (April 16) at around 3 p.m., Squamish RCMP responded to a report of a male driving dangerously near the school, RCMP Sgt. Wayne Pride wrote in a statement.
The suspect, a 17-year-old Squamish male, had left the scene when police arrived, but police managed to identify him.
The teen had been driving a car in the HSSS parking lot. “He was spinning gravel at students repeatedly with intent — driving fast, fish tailing,” Pride wrote in an email. “He made a number of passes at some students, the stones and gravel being flung at others with sufficient speed that it could have caused injuries.”
No one was injured. The suspect, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces a charge of assault with a weapon. The investigation is ongoing.
