The Axemen Rugby Club looks to build off of a successful 2022-23 campaign.

The Axemen Rugby Club is looking for more female participation.

On Tuesday, June 20 at 6 p.m., women of all ages and skill levels are invited to Howe Sound Secondary for an introductory session to the sport of rugby union. The event, which is billed as "fun, inclusive and community-oriented", will consist of games and skill workshops followed by a barbecue social.

"Calling all rugby enthusiasts and newcomers alike! We're thrilled to announce the revival of our women's program, and we want you to be a part of it!" said Axemen representatives in a statement posted to Instagram.

The Axemen ladies are coached by Lauren Arthur, who has taken the reins from previous head coach Emily Young.

It's an exciting time to be a rugby enthusiast in the Sea to Sky corridor. The Axemen's Division 1 squad just put together a historic season, including its first playoff win against a Premier Reserve opponent. Meanwhile, the Whistler Wolves are hosting a preseason tournament this Saturday, May 27 for those who prefer rugby league.
