Two time champions Whistler F.C., will take on the Brew Pub in the men's Premiership final this weekend as the Eagle Run Motors Men's Soccer League comes to a close.

After 16 weekends of play, plus playoffs, this Saturday will see the face-off between the two confident teams."Whoever we play, I'm pretty confident my team will take home the cup," said Brew Pub coach and player Scott Lamonde, whose team finished second in the league standings. " I'm proud of the them, this has been the result of the hard work of past and present players as well as the support of Dave Fenn at the Brew Pub."

The home team will have their work cut out for them this weekend as the crew from Whistler is looking to secure their third straight Premiership title. On March 19, they achieved first place in the league standings for the third year in a row.

We are hoping to win," said Whistler coach and player, Mark Sedgwick. "We haven't lost or conceded a goal since Christmas."

The Brew Pub was the only team to defeat Whistler F.C. this season however; the team had a second game taken away from them for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

"Since then we have decided to play more as a team," said Sedgwick, who also said the fitness of the younger Brew Pub team could be an issue for his players.

"They tend to run us around a bit."

The premiership final will take place the Brennan Park soccer fields on Saturday April 8, at 3 p.m. The men's B Divisional Cup final between Mountain Building Centre Rangers and the Ocean Port and the will take place at 1:00 p.m. All four teams playing this weekend defeated teams in semi-finals action last weekend.

Brew Pub defeated Ellis Moving 2-0 to reach the finals with goals scored by Darryl Simmons and Michael Emerick. Whistler F.C. defeated Khalsa 2-0, with goals scored by Mark Sedgwick, who was the league top scorer along Chris Golaiy of Ellis Moving, and Devin Jodrey. Mountain Building Centre Rangers defeated Lions Gate Ink 2-1 to reach the Divisional finals. With Teck Lee scoring twice for the Rangers and Joe Davidson scoring for Lions Gate.

The Divisional semifinal between Ocean Port and Lil"Wat7uhl went to overtime with the O.P. eventually taking the game 2-1. Rod Wilson and Mat Rollinson were the scorers for the O.P. and Johnson Narcisse scored for Lil'Wat&uhl.League organizer and player/ referee Jose Oreamuno said the talent displayed in the weekend's finals will be an exciting prelude to the up coming soccer fest taking place April 22-23 in Squamish.

"These are high quality games," he said. "It's going to be unbelievable."
