The Squamish Eagles Atom Rep team continued a full schedule with back-to-back games last Friday and Saturday (Jan. 20 and 21).

On Friday evening the boys traveled to North Vancouver for an evening game. The team is feeling the brunt of the schedule and was unable to shake North Van's home advantage, losing the game 4-1.

But at least two of the players were thrilled to have made the trek when a television news crew requested an interview for a local sports segment.

The Eagles made sure to rest for a rematch Saturday afternoon at Brennan Park, and they did not disappoint. The squad was back at full capacity with the return of top player Jared Lukosevicius who'd been on holidays, and the return to good health of several more players who had caught the chicken pox.

The Eagles started the rally with the first goal of the game and another at the end of the second period. North Vancouver came back in the third with two goals in a row, but the Eagles' retaliated when the offensive line blew past North Van's defense by cycling the puck along the boards to get the winning goal in the last few minutes of play.

"It was awesome," said team manager Kal Kaila. "Even the parents on the other team said the line played well."

The Eagles continued their hectic schedule with a Tuesday (Jan. 24) game at home against Richmond. The Eagles beat Richmond 5-2 for a season standing of 8 wins 5 losses and 2 ties. The Eagles have up to six more games to play until they reach the end of regular season play on Feb. 5.
