Golf tournament gets funding

The provincial government is contributing $10,000 to the Women's National Royale Cup golf tournament in Squamish this summer. The funding from HostingBC through 2010 Legacies Now was announced April 14. The amateur event is expected to attract competitors from across Canada and the United States.

HostingBC is a program designed to help communities increase sport tourism and economic opportunities leading up to and beyond the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games.

Flag football registration

Kids between the ages of six and 15 who want to play in the Gordon Sturtridge League can sign up early for the 2005 season by visiting Brennan Park Recreation Centre May 14 or 15.

Registration will be taken Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and if that day isn't convenient there is another opportunity to register on Sunday, May 15 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Minor hockey coaches sought

Squamish Minor Hockey's is now accepting applications for coaches for local rep teams.

Applications must be sent to Minor Hockey executives or mailed to Box 44, Squamish, B.C., V0N 3G0 by June 1.
