Organizers of the Squamish Triathlon are giving away a lifetime entry to the legendary race and all you need is a little creativity.
The triathlon is asking those interested to make a 60-second video, publish it on YouTube and then send the link to race director John French.
"This is a really exciting contest that will give creative individuals a chance to make a cool video featuring the sport of triathlon," French stated in a press release. "We are going to give bonus points to videographers who include Squamish in the video and generate traffic to their movie once it is published."
The winner will be announced on July 10 during the Squamish Triathlon awards ceremony. The creator of the video judged the best will receive free entry into the 2012 race and every race after that.
The contest is open to anyone 16 years of age as of July 10, 2011 and up and judges are looking for videos that promote healthy lifestyles and sportsmanship. It must conform to relevant laws and to be considered for the contest videos must be uploaded to YouTube. Links to videos created for the contest must be sent to [email protected] by July 5 at 5 p.m. The Squamish Triathlon executive will determine the winner based on the contest criteria along with the number of online views. Videos created by a team must be attributed to one person and the winner is not permitted to transfer the lifetime entry to another individual.
"This contest is all about fun," French said. "We want the entrants to have fun putting their videos together using whatever resources they have, whether it is using a smart phone camera or high-end HD recorders with professional sound. We look forward to seeing a creative bunch of movies."
