The results are in and two rally racers from Squamish were voted in the top three of the 2004 Inside Track Motorsport News Readers' Choice Awards.

Patrick Richard was voted the number one driver in the country and Joe Battrick was voted number three.

Richard, Canada's most successful active rally driver, didn't know he won the voting until he was contacted by The Chief on Tuesday (Sept. 6).

"It is great to see that people are supporting us in our international exploits," Richard said.

At the beginning of August, Richard moved into first place overall in the Rally America Championship standings by placing first at the Maine Forest Rally near Bethel, Maine.

Battrick chose not to run his Subaru WRX this season after a major sponsor decided to back out of the world rally scene at a late date and forced Battrick's team to abandon plans to compete with Richard and the others in the Rally America events.

"Wow, I was stunned just to be nominated," said Battrick. "To actually finish in the top three is great, an honor."
