Minor division football Titans undefeated

Sports

Squamish's minor division team in the Gordon Sturtridge Football League is heading into the playoffs undefeated.

The team played its eighth regular season game Sunday (Nov. 13), beating the North Vancouver Stamps to finish in first place with seven wins and a tie.

The Titans head into the semi-finals against the North Vancouver Packers in North Vancouver's Norgate Park noon Sunday (Nov. 20). And if victorious, the Titans will earn a spot in the finals for the first time in team history.

The last time the team met the Packers on Nov. 6, the Titans won 25-19. The lone tie of the season for the Titans came against the second place 49ers of the North Shore. The second place team finished the season with six wins, a loss and a tie.

The GSL championship games are scheduled for Nov. 26 at Confederation Park in North Vancouver.

The Squamish Bantam team also made the semi-finals with a second place finish of three wins and three losses. The Bantam Titans face the North Vancouver Eagles at Norgate Park at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 20).

Only seven months to train for triathlon

The 2006 Squamish Triathlon: A Memorial to Bob McIntosh is set for July 9. The event attracts competitors from around B.C. A significant number of the competitors in the event last year were Squamish residents. The swimming, biking and running event was a sell out last year.
