Nine wins for college hockey girl

Briefs

Jaime Jacquard-Sowa of Squamish has five points in 12 games with her Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute women's hockey team. The freshman forward with the college team based in Troy, N.Y. has two goals and three assists so far this season.

Her team has a record of nine wins, a loss and two ties against other college hockey teams back east.

The next game for her team is schedule for Sunday, Dec. 4 against Brock University.

Other teams in the conference include McGill and Boston University.

United plays to tie

The Squamish United U12 girls played Semiahmoo this weekend.

The teams are closely matched in the standings.

There was a lot of action end to end, but the ball stayed out of the goal for the whole game, resulting in a 0-0 tie.

Goalie Janine Liebich was tested with some good shots and remained solid in net throughout the game with one very tense scramble in front of the goal. Rachel Melville and Samandeep Uppal were checking really hard going in shoulder to shoulder.

Jessica Leas was strong in center midfield combining speed and big kicks to keep the other team on the defensive.

The girls have one more game before the Christmas break.
