Ringette is back into full swing for the second half of the season.

The Bunnies team traveled to Richmond Jan. 7 for their first regular season game and came home winners with a 6-4 victory. The Novice team also took the road after the holidays to take on Port Coquitlam Jan. 8. The Novices weren't as fortunate as the Bunnies, however. Although the game was evenly matched and fast paced, according to coach Kent Warwick, the team lost 4-1. Ringette fans will be treated to a rare double header Saturday (Jan. 21) with the Novices taking on Burnaby at 10 a.m. and the Bunnies facing NorthWest from Vancouver at 11:30 a.m. More than 50 fans took advantage of the event to cheer on the young athletes.

Burnaby had proven themselves worthy opponents when they last met Squamish and defeated them 7-2. The rematch again ended in a loss for Squamish with a shutout score of 2-0.

"This game was a fast paced skating contest, as they always are against Burnaby," said Warwick.

The Bunnies then took to the ice, giving spectators more to cheer about. With a few months of practice under their belts, the young co-ed teams gave all they had, said Warwick.

"It was very fun game to watch and these kids have really improved from the beginning of the year," said Warwick. "They were all pretty red faced and smiling when they came off the ice."

The Bunnies lost the match, and now stand at one win and one loss.

After ending the first half of the season at 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie, the Novices now stand at 3 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie.

The Bunnies will take to the road Saturday (Jan. 21) for the third game of the season while the Novices play at home against the undefeated powerhouse, Delta.
