Young riders put Pedal to the Medal

The Test of Metal is still a month away - but its future stars take to the streets starting this Thursday (May 19).

The Howe Sound School District has founded a Pedal to the Metal Mountain Bike Race Series open to boys and girls in grades 3 to 7 in Howe Sound schools. The three races will start on Ross Road near Howe Sound Secondary School and will follow the Cheekye Fan trails.

The first race is this coming Thursday (May 19) starting at 3:30 p.m., with races two and three on Thursday, June 2 and Thursday, June 16 at the same start time.

Entry forms and waivers are available at the schools and must be completed by parents or guardians and pre-registration is required. There will be draw prizes at all races.

Overall series leaders (top three boys and top three girls from each grade) will be presented with awards at the start of the Squamish Test of Metal mountain bike race awards ceremony on the afternoon of Saturday, June 18.
