Squamish climbers: Lillooet Ice Climbing Festival returns end of January

Vendor Village, gear demos, and clinics available on both days.

It is icy fun for enthusiastic climbers.

The Lillooet Ice Climbing Festival is back on Jan. 27 and 28.

This non-profit event is intended to be a gathering of like-minded ice-climbing enthusiasts in one of the premier ice destinations on the west coast of Canada," reads the event description.

The weekend starts with a meet-and-greet gathering at the Lillooet Brewery.

Both days offer a Vendor Village and gear demos.

There are clinics on both days. For example, on Saturday, there is an Ice for beginners session, a clinic on Steep ice with renowned alpinist Jon Walsh and a Women's Only Ice Climbing Clinic with mountain guide Julia Niles.

The weekend also includes a slide show, speakers and a dance party.

Tickets are available for $10.

The festival is presented by Squamish's Climb On Equipment and Danny O'Farrell, in partnership with Black Diamond Equipment, Arcteryx and CAMP.
