Sports

The next SORCA Youth Loonie Race is on Sunday (May 22). The race will be in the Dump Trails, Parking and sign-in at the parking lot on Squamish Valley Road across from the municipal landfill entrance at 2 p.m.

The race starts at 3 p.m. sharp and the course is an approximately 25-minute loop with average finish time of one hour. This week's course will start up the Cheekye Fan Trail to Larry's Loop, Reefer Rip & Rusty Bucket, then up Two Cycle and Hydro powerlines to start line, repeat as necessary. Bring a loonieVolunteers always required for course marshals. There will be pizza and drinks after the race for all racers.

Everyone races in three categories according to ability, not age. Everyone will collect a participation point for every race Loonie they attend. The top three male/female finishers in each of the three categories receive podium points depending on the number of racers in the category.

Any registered SORCA youth rider who attends any SORCA trail maintenance day will receive HMB points (huge mega-bonus points) and points go towards end of the season prizes.
