Like Squamish itself, a local environmental monitoring company is garnering attention for how fast it is growing.

Ecofish Research, which has an office in Second Avenue, was listed on the Canadian Business 30th annual Growth 500 list for ranking Canada’s fastest-growing companies.

The company, which has offices across B.C. and in Toronto, has shown five-year revenue growth of 100 per cent, according to a news release.

Ecofish was founded in Vancouver in 2001.

"Since then, the Ecofish team has worked effectively with stakeholders, regulators, and First Nations to improve the environment and operations for over 100 projects in B.C. and internationally," reads the release.  "Ecofish’s growth in recent years has expanded their breadth of expertise into the mining, marine and offshore, and oil and gas sectors, to name a few."

Local projects include providing scientific studies assessments and support to Innergex Renewable Energy, which has the Ashlu Creek run-of-river hydroelectric power generating plant in the Squamish Valley.
