As a precaution against COVID-19, District of Squamish closes facilities

Brennan Park, the 55 and the library among those shuttered — others move to online services

In wake of sweeping new measures to contain the novel coronavirus, the District of Squamish is announcing that it will be closing its facilities.

Earlier on March 16, the provincial health officer asked all gatherings of 50 or more people to be cancelled.

The following facilities will be closed as of 5 p.m. today, until further notice:

· Brennan Park Recreation Centre, with the exception of a spring break children’s camp that is currently underway.

· The 55 Activity Centre

· Squamish Public Library

* Books and materials out on loan will not be required to be returned until the library re-
opens.

The following facilities will move to telephone and online service only, until further notice:

· Municipal Hall

· Squamish Fire Rescue office (for emergency fire response continue to call 9.1.1)

· Animal Control

· Public Works

· Bylaw Enforcement
