Attendees chat and take in poster boards at the Burnco Aggregate Mine Project open house at the Squamish Adventure Centre Monday night.

The proposal is for a new sand and gravel mine about 22 kilometres from Squamish. The mine would produce about one million tonnes of gravel per year for 16 years.

The project is currently in its environmental review public comment period, which will end Sept. 28. Next, the federal and provincial environmental assessment agencies will prepare and finalize a report on the project.

About 70 people attended the open house, according to Burnco representatives.
