COUNCIL CUT: Parks bus won't go to Squamish Adventure Centre

Following council's ask to see if the South Squamish Parks bus could stop at the Squamish Adventure Centre, municipal staff have determined that won't be possible — at least for this year.

Following council's ask to see if the South Squamish Parks bus could stop at the Squamish Adventure Centre, municipal staff have determined that won't be possible — at least for this year.

The route stops in downtown Squamish, Shannon Falls Park, the Sea to Sky Gondola and the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park parking lot.

Staff said in a letter to council that the only way to accomplish a stop at the adventure centre  this year would be to lengthen the trip time.

"Lengthening the trip would break up the 30-minute regular trip times (example of regular trip times is 9:00 am, 9:30 am, 10:00 a.m. etc.), impact alignment with the Sea to Sky Gondola shift times, and reduce the number of daily trips by about 17 per cent," reads the letter, presented at council on Mar. 5.

"Staff felt that on the balance, the costs of this change outweighed the benefits."
