House fire in Valleycliffe Friday night

Residents out of the home, fire chief says

Squamish Fire Rescue is on the scene of a fire in Valleycliffe that took out a two-storey home in the 2000-block of Birch Drive.

Chief Bill Stoner told The Chief in an email that everyone is out of the single-family residence, and the fire is under control.

Squamish RCMP say it is possible one person suffered injuries.

Neighbours tell The Chief that they earlier heard several bangs and that flames fully engulfed the house at one point.

Firefighters will be on the scene for quite a while doing clean-up, Stoner said.

Two fire trucks were in front of the house, along with police and an ambulance.

The fire started in the evening Friday, May 22 and was out by 9 p.m.
