In response to COVID-19, additional safety measures to protect bus drivers will be coming to Squamish.
BC Transit announced in a news release on Aug. 13 that it will be installing full driver doors on local buses. These are movable barriers situated to the right of the driver’s seat near the farebox.
It includes a transparent piece of laminated tempered glass with an anti-glare coating and metal base. The full driver door windows can be adjusted to account for sightlines associated with different seat positions.
The installations in Squamish and Whistler will take place over five days. These doors will replace current vinyl panels installed as protective barriers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Community and handyDART buses in both systems will continue to be equipped with vinyl panels.
