For folks in Squamish, that Christmas carol became a reality — three days after Christmas.

As of early this morning, Squamish has been blanketed in the white stuff.

A snowfall warning is in effect.

Environment Canada says weather for the rest of the day will be will be a mix of snow and freezing rain, with an additional 10 to 15 cm expected to fall.

Roughly 10 to 20 cm has fallen since it started snowing last night, the organization said.

"A Pacific frontal system over the South Coast will continue to spread heavy snow over Howe Sound and Whistler through this evening," reads a public alert.

Temperatures at currently at -3 C and are expected to hover at around -2 C tomorrow, with periods of snow.

Saturday is expected to give way to sun and clouds, while sunshine is on the menu for Sunday.
