Squamish-Lillooet Regional District opens up nomination period

Potential candidates for Electoral Areas A, B, C or D have until Sept. 14 to sign up

Anyone interested in running to represent the electoral areas of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District can make the first step towards putting their name on the ballot.

The SLRD issued a notice of nomination on Sept. 4.

Until Sept. 14 at 4 p.m., potential candidates can fill out nomination packages to become an election candidate for director of either Electoral Areas A, B, C, or D.

These areas represent rural, unincorporated communities that surround municipalities, yet fall outside their boundaries.

For example, here in the Squamish area, this would include Britannia Beach and Furry Creek.

Municipal elections will take place on Oct. 20.
