Squamish’s Stawamus Chief Peaks Trail is popular as ever

Virtually all of the 400 daily passes were taken during first two days of reopening

After a lengthy hiatus due to COVID-19, people have been eager to get back on the Stawamus Chief Peaks Trail.

BC Parks said that day passes for the hike have been very popular.

On opening day, July 27, 95% of passes were issued by 2 p,m.

As of 2 p.m. the following day, all available day-use passes for the Chief Peaks Trail had been issued.

There are 400 day-use passes available every day.

They can be obtained via the Discover Camping website and are available daily beginning at 6 a.m.. There is no fee for the passes.

They are not tickets.

Visitors are able to obtain a day-use pass for either a morning arrival or an afternoon arrival, which is after 1 p.m.
