Thief must have had climbing skills and tools to remove parts from suspended snowmobile, says park manager

Someone doesn’t have the giving Christmas sprit, it seems.

Staff at the Rope Runner Aerial Park are hoping the public can help recover stolen parts taken from the Ski-Doo sled that was positioned on the course’s second level.

The steering column with bars, brakes, and dials was removed.

“The culprit must have been a good climber as well as having the necessary equipment and tools to reach the sled to remove the parts,” said the park’s manager, Clare Livingstone.

The missing parts were noticed Saturday, however staff is unclear when the incident occurred as the park is only open on Saturdays during the winter.

The Sled was given to the park as part of a sponsorship deal with No Limits and is one of the attraction’s most popular elements, according to Livingstone.

“You can imagine how devastated we are that this has happened in such a small community town,” she said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca or the Rope Runner Aerial Park at 604-892-4623.

However, there has been an upside to the incident.

Local company No Limits has stepped in to supply the missing parts, which will allow the Ski Doo to be ready for Saturday.

“The support has been incredible,” said Livingstone in a follow-up email on Tuesday.
