UPDATED: Sea to Sky reopened after accident closes highway north of Squamish

Air ambulance expected to arrive

The province's traffic monitoring authority says Highway 99 has reopened north of Squamish.

Earlier this evening, a motor vehicle accident occurred near Conroy Creek forest service road, prompting road closures on the Sea to Sky Highway and an air ambulance request.

Vincent Chou of BC Emergency Health Services has confirmed that an air ambulance was dispatched.

BJ Chute of Squamish SAR says that search and rescue teams were on site but were stood down.

Firefighters and ambulance crews were on scene, Chute said.

At the time of the accident, Drive BC, the province's traffic monitoring account, tweeted that Highway 99 has been closed 30 kilometres north of Squamish.
